Xera: Document Group Navigation and Coding

The document group feature is generally used to cluster family members together based on an attachbeg or attachrange field, but can be used to link any records with identical field content, such as a duplicate ID.

If enabled in a database, the document groups feature can be found just over the metadata in the table view – toggled by clicking on the drop down and selecting a group. This will also bring in any group members into your current search. IE – searching for a person’s name within the From field, with doc groups enabled by family, will also bring in that email’s attachments (which would normally have blank From content).

With groups enabled, small triangles will appear next to any grouped documents. Clicking on them will expand the family, and the children will be designated with circles. Documents with unique or blank field content will have nothing beside them.

A double triangle icon will expand all groups on the current sheet.

In Document view, the circled double triangle will also appear. This controls document navigation. Green by default, using the navigation arrows to transition from one document to the next will move from parent to parent, skipping any children. Left-clicking the icon will grey it out, and navigation will behave in the usual doc to doc manner.

A new icon will also appear in the upper right of the coding pane. Disabled by default, coding is on a doc by doc basis. If enabled, the user will be able to code for the entire family at once.

The same feature exists on the Table view as well when adding documents to a folder. If document groups are enabled, foldering will include the full group.
